Public content policy
This is the house rule set for It’s So Wrong. It is not a Terms of Service written by a lawyer, and it is not legal advice. It is what the desk will and will not put on a page.
What a story is
A story is a staff-edited piece about a claim, object, or company practice. Every story in the river has a title, a category, a short “what looks wrong,” a “what’s actually going on,” a vote widget, and a source link when the claim is about a real public practice. If we cannot source it, we label it a composite or example on the page.
Hard no
- No real death, accident, war, crime-scene, or gore footage.
- No votes on people for who they are. No group-targeting questions.
- No slurs in site copy, category names, or vote labels.
- No photographing strangers for mockery.
- No home addresses, workplaces, school names, license plates, or “find this person.”
- No kids as subjects. No accounts aimed at children under 13.
- No raw, unreviewed user posts next to any future ad code.
Submissions, when they exist
Tips go to the desk. They do not auto-publish. We will not run a photo we do not have rights to. The person who pressed the shutter owns the photo. A valid DMCA notice will be honored. We will not name a private customer to make a company look bad when a public filing will do.
Comments and votes
Version 1 has no public comments. A vote is stored in this browser only, under a key that starts with isw-vote:. One vote per story per browser. We do not collect it, we do not send it, and we do not show a tally. Clear site data in the browser to wipe it. If comments ever ship, they will sit in a queue and will not carry ad code until they are reviewed. Google treats user comments on an ad page as the publisher’s content.
Corrections
We quote the public record. If a line is wrong, email desk@itsowrong.com with the page and the source. We will correct the page. A settlement is not always an admission of wrongdoing.
Defamation and opinion
If staff write “X is a scam” as fact about a named person, that is our speech. We stick to documented company practices, public filings, and labeled opinion. A settlement is not always an admission of wrongdoing. We say that on the story.
Report
Every story has a report link. Use it for a factual error, a rights problem, or a page that wandered into the hard-no list. Email desk@itsowrong.com.
Ads
There is no ad code on this build. If ads ever exist, they will not run on After Dark, on an unreviewed queue, or on a page that cannot be defended as brand-safe.
